Review- Maybelline Eye Studio Hyper Glossy Liquid Eyeliner in Black

Hi Everyone,

I am reviewing a really good eye liner today- Maybelline Eye studio Hyper Glossy Liquid Eyeliner. I picked it up randomly from a drug store in Malaysia. That day I was in a big hurry and was in an urgent need of an eyeliner so I picked up the first one I saw without even testing it and I must say that I made a good choice ūüôā

About the Product

This particular Hyper Glossy eye liner that I am reviewing today is available in black only but there is another series by the same name-hyper glossy, featuring some electric and bright colors-¬†Pop navy blue, Lazer green, Tangerine orange 3G,¬†Turquoise blue 3G and Khaki 3. They are priced at INR 250. The coolest thing about this is that it comes with an expiry date. Why can’t¬†all cosmetic brands mention expiry dates on their products? Knowing the expiry date makes things easier. My bottle has been in use for a few days and therefore the print has worn out a little. Therefore, I have used an original picture from Maybelline website to give a good look at the bottle. Maybelline also claims that it is safe for sensitive eyes.

Texture– It is very well pigmented. The color is intense and bold black with a lot of shine, you do not need to swipe it again and again to get the the intense black finishing. It is just the right consistency, liquid but not runny, and dries up fast enough. I hate the kind of liner in which the first application is watery and then you have to shake it really well to get some thick colour on the brush, this one is NOT¬†that kind. I do not like the fact that it feels a little bit dry if you apply a thick layer but it doesn’t lose its shine.

Single stroke. You can also go thinner than this.

Finishing– It is a non-smudge, waterproof formula. You can work as you like with this one. The combination of a good brush and perfect thickness of formula helps to create any shape you like- simple thin stroke or thick cat eyes, whatever you like. Like the name says, it has a very glossy finish and the best part is that the glossiness does’t wear off with time. Note in the picture below that it is glossy not sparkly.

Brush– It comes with a super fine brush and is really easy to use. Even though it’s a bristle brush, you can work in fine details with it. You can go super thin or thick and bold with fine edges, it work pretty well for both. A¬†single stroke is enough for a simple think eye liner look.

Affordability– It is a great value for money. I just felt that the bottle is really tiny which in turn means that there isn’t much product in there.

Longevity– ¬†It is an all day long ¬†formula. Maybelline claims that it is a 24 hour wear formula. While I haven’t got a chance to wear it for 24 hours (who does?), I can say it’s pretty long lasting. ¬†What I do not like about it is that it becomes flaky while removing. If not careful the flakes fly all over your face. It is ¬†not really hard to remove but I wish it was easier and smoother.

Recommendation: You can give it a try. It is affordable and a good value for money. Most people prefer matte finish eyeliners but give this one a try if you want to add a glossy finish liner to your beauty kit. I will surely buy it again in black and since it is pretty affordable I would love to try another colour from the range.

Hope you all like it. Let me know what kind of liners you prefer.

Stay Happy
